The 13th International Donor Registry Conference and World Marrow Donor Association Global Meeting were held in Hanau from 18th to 21st of June. DKMS Life Science Lab had a chance to participate in this event. Under the theme "Engage and Empower for Excellence," the conference served as a platform for professionals and experts in the field of stem cell transplantation to gather and exchange knowledge.
The conference's primary focus was on mismatched unrelated donor therapies, a still very important treatment option in the healing of blood cancer patients. In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the importance of considering non-HLA characteristics in stem source selection. The conference provided an opportunity to explore current practices and ongoing research in incorporating non-HLA characteristics such as CMV status, age, or sex into the donor selection process.
DKMS, as an important partner in this year’s event, played a significant role in contributing to the success of this event. One of the highlights of the conference was the poster session sponsored by DKMS Life Science Lab, where experts had the opportunity to exchange knowledge, share good practice and get to know each other – all with the pleasant atmosphere.
Overall, in line with the theme – the IDRC conference played a role in progress, engagement, and empowering participants to strive for excellence in their respective fields. Through the international community's collective efforts, including DKMS Life Science Lab, we can continue to enhance the impact on people’s lives.
