Various teams within the Genotyping Analysis group chaperone the complex workflow of genotyping, analysis, and transmission of results.
The genotyping Software team deploys the internal NGS analysis software neXtype. This involves being actively engaged in its development, quality monitoring, and troubleshooting. Along with the Bioinformatics team in Tuebingen, the Software team works on algorithm improvements and sequence database updates in line with current research developments. Validation and quality control of results and adherence to regulatory body requirements ensure high quality and timely transmission of genotyping results.
The Analysis team ensures accuracy and transmission of genotyping results whilst constantly evaluating the data quality of various assays. Working with other departments (Research and Development, Clinical Lab) and cognizant of current research in genotyping, the Analysis team continuously evaluates, extends, and maintains the data core of the software.
The Project Management team stays on top of the latest medical research and biotechnological developments in genotyping to expand the genotyping profile. That includes the incorporation of new loci and technology advancements into the high-throughput laboratory processes at the DKMS Life Science Lab. The Project Management team also implements customized procedures and analyses to support internal and external research partners.
A flagship project of the Project Management team has been the establishment of a biobanking process including processing, storage, and export of relevant research samples, which was developed for the Collaborative biobank (CoBi).
