Despite the necessary manual steps in this field of work, we established a high-throughput process for sample receipt and preparation that makes us unique. We also utilize the support of robots here to avoid critical failures in sample preparation. The core duty of the team is to guide the samples into the several fully automated processes of lab analytics.
The PRE-PCR team’s key tasks are DNA isolation and DNA amplification (PCR) in a high-throughput fashion. In contrast to handling individual samples in other laboratories, sample processing in our high-throughput lab is performed in a 384-batch format. As an additional function, the team takes care of sample management for the Collaborative Biobank (CoBi).
The responsibility of the POST-PCR team is to manage the further PCR steps, the sample preparation for sequencing, and the sequencing itself. The heart of this lab area is the NovaSeq sequencer, which ensures maximum efficiency. At the end of each sequencing run, the raw data for 15,360 samples of 12 HLA gene loci and up to 22 additional loci are generated.
